Scottsdale Babymoon

A couple weeks ago, Josh and I took our last little trip without the babes. It was a perfect little getaway to re-group between shaved-ice season and baby-time. We had two reward nights at a Hyatt* and some free airline miles, so we looked for the nicest Hyatt that was just one flight away.

We decided on the Hyatt Regency in Scottsdale for the warmth, the spa atmosphere and the new adventure. At 34 weeks pregnant, that sounded perfect…. and we’ve never been to Arizona before! 🙂

Typically, I have a hard time “relaxing” on vacation. A new place means new adventure for me. However, this time, my body was definitely ready to just sit by the heated pool, enjoy conversation with my husband, and even catch up on Netflix in the middle of the day.

We visited the Desert Botanical Garden one morning (got more than our fair share of cactus viewing in) and then went to hike around Papago Park. There were tons of hiking options in the area, but Papago Park offered some easy trails and the ‘Hole in the Rock’ without too much effort. If we go back again (while not pregnant) I would love to check out Camelback Mountain. So much desert beauty everywhere!

On the last day of our little getaway, Josh got me a Mother-to-Be massage at the Hyatt Spa Avania. The BEST prenatal massage I’ve ever had…it was the  culmination of our relaxing weekend and it refreshed my soul to feel so pampered. The facility was just beautiful. A heated mineral pool, hot tubs, cold tubs, steam showers, amenities… and yummy treats/infused water. I just wish I could go back again every week. 🙂

The kiddos had a fun weekend at home too- we have the sweetest babysitter and they raved about their weekend of fun! We’re SO very thankful for Miss Alexa!IMG_4289

Some of our favorite places in Scottsdale:

Pig and Pickle-Josh found this place on a foodie website and it was the first place we went when we landed in Arizona. The cuisine was very unique, the flavors complemented each other perfectly and it was really the culmination of Josh’s restaurant dreams- a place that just makes REALLY good, unique food.

The Culinary Dropout– A friend suggested this place to us and I’m so glad we went! They have a super fun patio, yummy food and the ambiance is just so perfect!

Butter’s Pancake Cafe– Going out for breakfast, after having kids, is such a treat! This place had the BEST pancakes. We shared the Wildberry Bliss Cakes… my mouth waters just to think about them! 🙂

Nektar Juice Bar– Josh and I are kind of obsessed with the idea of a “Juice Concept” and when we saw their sign we pulled in immediately for a post-desert hike refresher. I was so excited to try an Acai Bowl too- it didn’t disappoint!

Sweet Republic– SUPER yummy artisan ice cream. They had a delicious lavender ice cream and a basil/lime sorbet. Josh got a dark chocolate ice cream with homemade cookie topping- Oh yum!
