The King Family Vacation 2015
What a special trip this was! Gram kept saying how fun it was that each day held new adventures and that statement really felt like the theme of this trip!
The Royal Sands and Spa was the perfect place for a family! The All-Inclusive option made feeding kids, eating good food and enjoying smoothies by the pool a reality. Every moment was lived and every smile enjoyed. The rooms we booked were first floor 1bd suites. The living area had a full kitchen, dining area, and living rooms with two twin size hideaway beds. So great that both our 5 and 3 year old got their own bed! Attached to the main living area was a MASSIVE bathroom and closet. If we ever go back with Baby #3, a crib in the closet would be an easy set-up. Then there is a Master Bedroom, it has a large king bed with patio access. The key part though, in booking for a family with kids, is to book a first floor room. This allows you straight access to the pools (no elevators, stairs, etc) and you can come and go to the pool bar at night or during nap time for room service. Josh and I spent several wonderful nights, listening to the ocean waves and enjoying the breeze while just talking over late-night guacamole and chocolate cake. 🙂
The cousins were all so brave- they embraced adventure together and couldn’t get enough of their time spent together. They ran to see each other each morning and were always coming up with a new plan for fun. The morning after we got home, Jonah woke up and said, “I just reallllly miss Emerson!”
Being on vacation as a whole family was a dream come true for everyone!
Traveling 28 weeks pregnant was… interesting. I’m used to having a pretty consistent energy level and don’t easily “sit things out.” So, the changes of the 3rd trimester and the new onset of Braxton Hicks made the constant changing of swim suits and taking shoes on and off more difficult than I expected. However, time with my sweet family, reminds me that this new baby will be more wonderful than I can imagine!
The kids LOVED having Gram and Pa nearby for lots of added fun! Pa dug MASSIVE holes on the beach to burry little bodies, Gram took the kids “shopping” in the gift shop for souvenirs, and they swam, painted pottery, and shared pineapple drinks all week. I hope these little ones never forget the love they are surrounded by! How special is it to have grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins who love every bit of you!?
Baby # 3- you’ve got a BIG love party waiting for you!
We played on the beach, learned to snorkel, saw fish and jellyfish, built sand castles, found shells (and bought a Conk Shell from a beach vendor), had many family meals, played cards, swam with the Dolphins, saved Sea Turtles, swam in the pools and spent countless hours just enjoying our time together. I didn’t journal, but with the endless amount of pictures we took, not a moment should be forgotten!
Until next time, Mexico!
