Honey-Garlic Salmon

We are in full Spring mode over here: prepping our lawn, cleaning house, and eating every meal outside. We like to keep our dinners super clean and that’s so much easier to do when it’s “grilling” weather. Sometimes we like to mix up our protein game with a little salmon for something different. We prefer ours well done and crispy on the outside. This recipe was a little experiment based on what I remember from my Dad baking it years ago. It turned out so yummy and literally plate-lickin-good according to Emmy. 🙂

First combine and mix your marinade in a bowl. Cut 2 pounds of salmon into filets and dunk each into the marinade to fully coat them. Pour the remainder of the marinade over the filets and let them refrigerate for 15 minutes or so.


  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons fresh-squeezed lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 spoonful melted coconut oil
  • 5 “cranks” sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlicIMG_2417IMG_2429

I started cooking them in a pan on low-medium heat until they were about half-way done (10 minutes?). I actually drizzled a little more honey and sea salt while they were cooking for added flavor. IMG_2432 IMG_2433Then, I transferred them to a grittle to get them golden and crispy with some charred lines.IMG_2434 Matt cooked the remainder of the salmon on the grill and although the flavor wasn’t as intense, they also turned out delicious. We paired them with some baked broccoli (coconut oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, parmesan) and enjoyed our healthy meal out back. 🙂IMG_2430
