A Weekend Away

The company my husband works for, Opportune, is based out of Houston. Every year they throw 2 big parties, one at Christmas, and one for summer. These two weekends away each year are enough to make this my favorite job Matt’s ever had. 🙂 We love getting to spend a couple nights together in a nice hotel and getting to be just the two of us for a bit. I always look forward to shopping at some of my favorite stores that we don’t have in Tulsa while Matt finishes up training the day I fly in. This time was a little disappointing.. wawa20140630-171035.jpg

Matt met me at the Galleria and I dragged him along to some stores. We stopped at the food court for a snack and both pondered the strange feeling of not having to worry about anyone but ourselves (no cutting chicken into tiny pieces, grabbing 50 napkins, or blowing on steaming food). It was relaxing. After Matt had all the Galleria he could handle, we headed back to the hotel to get ready for date night. We ended up having dinner at Flemings which was crazy delicious and seriously broke the diet I’ve been keeping. What are vacations for!? After dinner we had plans to see a late movie but came back to the hotel to chill for a little bit first. After laying around too long, and having a hard time finding a good movie to see, we wound up with room service bread pudding and netflix in bed. Yup.. we party hard.

The next morning we hit the gym to pay for the dinner we ate. Blek! Our hotel was in the coolest little square full of shopping, restaurants, and a big grassy courtyard. We walked around for a while before stopping for some delicious omelets. I got to do some more shopping that afternoon, ate some grilled fish tacos from Ruggles Green, and even layed out by the pool with my man.

Later that night we headed to the Opportune pool party with co-workers. They had giant Jenga by the pool which I had to teach Matt a lesson in. It was a great night getting to know some of Matt’s co-workers and friends. They’re all so nice and I’m so thankful for all the fun parties and events they plan. They go BIG. 🙂 The next morning we got up at 5 am to fly back to our littles who I was missing lots at this point. They’re the best thing in the world to come home to.
