A few days in paradise…
just the two of us…was magical. We planned a very last minute trip last week Wednesday to leave Sunday for a pre-anniversary celebration trip. We hopped on the King family bandwagon and headed for Cancun! We stayed at the exact same resort as Angie and Josh and couldn’t have been happier with their recommendation. It was paradise. Even lounging at the airport feels like a vaca when you’re normally chasing two kiddos… sunshine here we come!We upgraded our room to one with a jacuzzi on the balcony. Per Angie and Josh’s suggestion we tried for one up high on the corner and man, it was SO worth it!!! We went up to check out the room before agreeing to upgrade and pretty much ran down to the front desk to snatch up the last one. It was heaven. The turquoise water was just dreamy.
Let the fun begin…perfect temps and see-through water..Iced coffees and decadent treats taste really good on a beach bed. 😉
The fresh tacos and authentic tortillas were seriously delicious and we consumed a ridiculous amount of guacamole in our four days there.Resort views…
They had an impressive circus show that night and we enjoyed a romantic dinner and walk along the beach. Life has been in fast forward ever since our honeymoon and to go back to being honeymooners for a few days was just beautiful and so needed. It’s amazing how much conversation you can have with that much alone time. 🙂
I actually finished “Dad is Fat” by Jim Gaffigan. It was way funnier on the beach. 🙂 Then I read it out loud to Matt while we layed out and we laughed together about the truth of his parenting jokes. Love it.
We tried the Japanese restaurant later that night but it wasn’t as impressive as the buffet. But, the fried ice cream was totally impressive.
The next day Matt talked me into scuba diving. I was terrified, but assured we wouldn’t see any sharks and it would be the coolest experience ever. After a mild anxiety attack after going under, it really was amazing. However, we saw 5 sharks (bull, lemon, and nurse), 5 barracudas, a baby jelly fish, and a stone fish (they have 3 times the poison of a cobra FYI). But, I made it!!! And, I had fun and experienced something incredible, while conquering my fears! I’m so glad we did this together!
The underwater life was beautiful! We both got excited when we saw “Dori” swim past us. Emmy would have been in Nemo heaven! The color of the ocean was insane..I was so sick after all the pressure adjustment, choppy ocean boat ride, and lack of food. bla! We slept it off on a beach bed and then headed out for some buffet time and walks along the gorgeous rocky beach..
We spent the next morning soaking up our last moments in the sunshine, playing ping-pong, and binging at the buffet. 🙂
I gotta admit, I was missing my kids pretty bad on the last day. I think if we wanted to stay any longer I would have needed them shipped to us immediately. We loved our alone time and the fact that it was spent in such a gorgeous place. But, we also love that coming home to our babies means the end of a vacation isn’t completely depressing. This girl loves her new “turtles shirt”!
