Sometimes being a mommy makes getting ready for the day difficult. When Emmy was a newborn it was near impossible. Since then, I’ve figured out a few things to help me become faster and more efficient. I’d like to share five of my “beauty secrets” for moms on the go…
Fishtail Braid– This braid will take you from frumpy to fun in about two minutes. Sometimes we just don’t have the time to stand there blow drying, brushing, and curling just to make it to the grocery store before nap time. Personally, Emmy believes my blow dryer is some sort of torture-device and is filled with absolute terror anytime I turn it on. So, I’ve become a pro at sleeping with wet hair, throwing my kinky locks into a fish-tail, and hitting the road. It’s a little more unique than a regular braid and is super easy to learn. Here’s a great tutorial by LC to get you “fish-tailing” in no time!
Bobbi Brown “Pale Pink” Blush– When you don’t have the time for your full make-up routine, blush is a must! It makes every girl look “alive” no matter how much sleep she’s lacking. I found this color around the time of my wedding and it’s definitely barbie pink! It’s ironically called “pale pink” but is anything but pale. Since finding my little treasure, bachelorettes like Emily Maynard and Michelle Money have shared this as their absolute “fav” also.
Eos Lip Balm– Best chap stick ever. And, simply irresistible packaging. It’s become a staple in my purse and even Emmy and Matt love it. Apparently it’s really good for your lips too so if you don’t have one yet, you need one (or five, because they’re so colorful and cute).
Voluminous Loreal Mascara– Besides blush, a little mascara can make a girl ready to see the world. Voluminous has been my brand of choice even prior to kids. It’s nice and thick so you don’t have to apply coat after coat. It makes lashes full and long. What else could you ask for in a mascara? Oh and you can buy it for $8!
Less hair-washing– I used to give my hair a couple days between washes. Now that I’m not able to blow-dry my hair unless Emmy’s asleep, hair-washing is at an all-time low. It’s actually great for your hair (especially dry hair) to give it several days between washes. When I do wash my hair, I’ll start with curls and let them fade to waves as the week goes on, most likely ending in some fish-tails and pony-tails when it seriously needs some love and care.
Hope these tips/tools make your #momlife a little easier and may be even prettier!
