Indulging in a Little “Me Time”

Ah! The rare moment when your house is clean, your child is asleep, and you get to consider what YOU would like to do. I suppose there’s always something I could be doing but I try to take time to relax and have a little “me time” while Emmy’s napping. My go-to activites are the following…

1) Read/Journal

I like to start the morning slow with a cup of coffee during Emmy’s morning nap. I spend time reading and journaling. I find this time so therapeutic! Starting the day with a quiet time just makes everything go smoother.

2) Blog/Shutterfly

Another low-key activity that gets some creative juices flowing is blogging or creating memory books on Shutterfly. Time seems to fly by anytime I’m working on these things. I am a total project person so I love having something to keep coming back to and working on.

3) Spa Time

Do you ever get to the point where every single hygenial process MUST be done yesterday. Sometimes during an Emmy nap I’ll just do the whole kit and caboodle and call it good for another couple weeks. πŸ™‚ I’m talking shaving, washing hair, waxing, white strips, nails, etc. How can a woman keep up with all these things??? I know I don’t. Something has to slide. By the way- I would suggest leaving the nails til after baby bedtime. She will most likely wake up as soon as you get the top coat on.

4) Crafting

Whether it’s headband making, Christmas decorating, or Pinterest ideas, I love a good craft! It’s a little tricky to work on these things while little E is crawling all over trying to find things to swallow so I try to save these for “me time”. I love seeing the finished product and feeling like you accomplished something pretty and creative that day. πŸ™‚

5) Girl Time

If Matt’s offering to babysit, I’ll take a sushi date with the girls anytime (pedicures are also accepted)! My favorite sushi place is yokozuna’s downtown. They have a great happy hour and fun atmosphere. Sometimes a girls night is just what us mommas need to cut loose, laugh, and be free!

Remember to take advantage of the moments you have to yourself to do things you love. While it’s important to keep your house clean and life in order, so is your sanity. Everybody needs time to re-energize. If you’re looking for something to fill your me-time, try indulging in some of my favorites. If none of these work for you, you can always try taking a nap yourself. Wow! What a revolutionary idea! πŸ™‚

Thanks Lindsey! Speaking of girl time, we need to have some! We still haven’t layed out at the pool together since our honeymoons. πŸ™‚ Hurry up and join the mom club and we can go for some park play dates. πŸ™‚
